toy drive drop offGeneseo Communications employees were witness to the biggest outpouring of community spirit in their history of hosting their annual toy drive event!

Geneseo Communication employees were moved by the overwhelming generosity shown during their 8th annual community Toy Drive, Tuesday December 13th. Facing frigid temperatures, employees took shifts collecting toys in front of Geneseo Communications, Inc from 7am until 5pm. Their efforts, in support of the Geneseo Food Pantry, will benefit area families in need.

“Every employee came in from their shift with cold hands but warm hearts”, said General Manager, Matt Storm. “Employees were a buzz, sharing stories of the expressions of giving from folks who drove up and dropped off toys and cash in support of this effort”, he said.

In addition to community contributions, local retailers also took part by extending additional discounts and donations toward the drive. “I have always been proud to be a part of this community; Tuesday was a reminder of the great people who live here and their amazing generosity in support of others, making this a great place to call home”, said Storm.

“It is difficult to speak about this year’s toy drive without getting a bit choked up”, said Brenda Crider, toy drive coordinator.   “We were truly witnesses to the spirit-of-the-season through the amazing generosity of the community as a whole.”

Geneseo local retailers rallied in support of this effort, with one local retail store impacting the drive in a big way! Urban Farmhouse owned and operated by Missy Henderson and Alicia Barnett announced early on to their followers that they would contribute $10 toward the drive for every blanket sold in their store. Shoppers responded, nearly doubling the goal set by the store. “The number of toys, clothes, gift sets, bikes and more that the Henderson and Barnett families contributed to this effort was truly amazing”, Crider said. “They took great care in choosing items for all ages while stimulating retail commerce by purchasing much of them locally. This effort was a genuine example of the true meaning of the season and the huge impact we can make when we come together!”

Many toys and gifts were delivered to the Geneseo Food Pantry as well as a check in the amount of $1,600! Geneseo Communications would like to thank our wonderful employees, all of those who drove by to donate gifts and cash and our business partners for coming together with us to make this a season of joy for others!
