Geneseo Youth Baseball of Geneseo, Illinois receives funds from Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation for lighting upgrades
The outlook for Geneseo Youth Baseball got a little brighter for the 2019 season with support from Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation. The Foundation awarded the organization $45,000 to be paid in three installments for new lights on diamonds 2 and 3 at Bollen Field and JF Edwards Complex.
“This facility upgrade is much needed,” Geneseo Youth Baseball President, James Mickley said. “Since the JF Edwards complex, was completed nearly 10 years ago, the number of tournaments held has grown exponentially. Our youth program continues to grow with more than six hundred kids involved this past season. These new lights made possible in part by the Geneseo Communications Foundation isn’t a bigger, better project. This is a project that is really needed to help make our facilities more maintenance free and safer for all,” he said.
The old lights are coming down with the new lighting system already being installed. Organizers plan to have the new lights in place and operational before the end of this year.
“Having the Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation in our community is a tremendous benefit to organizations like Geneseo Youth Baseball,” Mickley said. “We appreciate them realizing our vision and partnering with us to reach our goal to improve these facilities. As a result, the citizens of Geneseo, our participants and visitors of our community will benefit from the efforts we have taken to insure our kids and theirs have a fun and safe place to participate in a game they love.”
The Geneseo Communication Charitable Foundation was established in 2002 by Geneseo Communications, Inc. to enhance, develop and benefit the Geneseo Community.
Geneseo Communication Charitable Foundation grant applications can be found here and can be submitted at any time throughout the year. Applications are reviewed quarterly and all 501(c) 3 organizations that reside within Geneseo Communications servicing area are encouraged to apply.
