Henry County Telephone Company purchases 20 new Chromebooks for Annawan Grade School!

Elementary level students at Annawan Grade School will be equipped with new Chromebooks this year as the result of an initiative from Henry County Telephone Company to improve young learners access to technology. Henry County Telephone Company donated $4,900 to purchase 20 new Chromebooks for the school’s ‘Young Learner’s Technology Lab’.

“Being a strong community partner is central to our mission as we are committed to improving the communities we serve,” said Karen Kohne, President and CEO of Henry County Telephone Company. “Donating the funds necessary to purchase this computer equipment is a natural fit for our company as we believe strongly in improving education by introducing technology at the early learning level. We know that improving access to technology in our schools will improve education and benefit our community for the long term as well as help local students build a sound foundation for the future.”

Annawan High School Principal Matt Nordstrom shared that the school plans to use the Chromebooks to provide reading and math intervention for elementary level students. “Students love working with technology,” Nordstrom said. “I expect students to be more engaged for longer periods of time in their lessons that involve the Chromebooks. The Chromebooks will also have a direct impact on skills that they use to further their learning and education. A direct result will be improved test scores and increasing numbers of students who meet grade level goals.”
