Geneseo Communications employees were moved by the overwhelming generosity shown during their 9th annual community Toy Drive, Tuesday December 12th. Braving cold temperatures, employees took shifts collecting toys in front of Geneseo Communications, Inc from 7am until 4:30pm. New this year we introduced ‘Cash Match Challenge’ sponsored by the Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation. For every dollar donated toward the drive the Foundation offered to match that donation. The community rose to the challenge and in addition to several truckloads of toys the committee also presented the Geneseo Food Pantry with a check for $2,200. Both the Geneseo Communications’ employees and Charitable Foundation’s efforts, in support of the Geneseo Food Pantry, will benefit area families in need.
“Our employees look forward to this event every year,” said General Manager, Matt Storm. “We are all witnesses to the true meaning of the season through the expressions of giving from folks who drive up and drop off toys and cash in support of this effort,” he said.
In addition to community contributions, local retailers also took part by contributing donations toward the drive. “I have always been proud to be a part of this community; Tuesday was a reminder of the great people who live here and their amazing generosity in support of others, making this a great place to call home,” said Storm.
“Each year this effort reminds all of us at Geneseo Communications how very blessed we are to be a part of such a giving community.” said Brenda Crider, toy drive coordinator. “We truly witnessed the spirit-of-the-season through the amazing generosity of others.”
Geneseo Communications would like to thank our wonderful employees, as well as the support from the Geneseo Communications Charitable Foundation. But most especially, all of those who drove by to donate gifts and cash, coming together with us to make this a season of joy for others!
